About
I'm a backend engineer who thinks in systems — request lifecycles, data models, the critical plumbing that has to hold up when nobody's looking. Most of what I know, I've built the hard way: by shipping something real, hitting a wall, and going one layer deeper until I understood why the wall was there.
That habit is also why I'm a member of A2SV (Africa to Silicon Valley) — a selective, competitive-programming and interview-prep community that trains students across Africa for backend and software engineering roles. A2SV is where the muscle for algorithmic problem-solving actually gets built: timed contests, structured practice, and a cohort that expects you to understand your solutions, not just pass the test cases.
I'm partway through a deliberate roadmap: shipping backend projects across six different ecosystems — Node/Express, Python (Django and FastAPI), PHP (Laravel), Go, and Rust — not to collect logos, but to actually understand what each ecosystem is good at, instead of defaulting to one framework for life. Where each project stands is on the projects page.
I'm currently finishing my Computer Science degree at Addis Ababa University, which matters mostly as timing context — it's what's happening in the background while the rest of this goes on, not the headline.
